"Hot Pink Lace" - Woman's Summer Haori Jacket
This jacket is so light weight and so bright! The color is deeper than a hot pink but not quite fuchsia. It's also fairly stiff but would soften up after a gentle hand-washing. We love the open floral lace - and there's a bit of silver woven in as well.
Layering is so important for kimono-wearing - even in the hot and humid days of summer in Japan. Vintage summer haori typically have an open weave that allows cooling air to flow between the layers, and often have a design woven on the back.
These light weight haori jackets are great to throw on when you want something over your shoulders as you move from the summer heat into an air conditioned restaurant, theater, or office. They're also modest cover ups at the beach or poolside. Even though they tend to be dark colors, the open weave is really cooling. We like them over a little black dress for a night on the town.
